Moon Arts Ark

(2015 - 2023)
Role: Designer and Research Assistant, CAD Modeler/Renderer, Concept Development

The Moon Ark is a cultural heritage artifact and a lunar leave-behind for humanity, shaped by a collective of designers, space art enthusiasts, and technologists. The project is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at Carnegie Mellon University.

The Moon Ark contains over 300+ works of art, each telling a story about humanity’s place in the universe. Its constructed using high tech and durable manufacturing techniques, such as platinum plating on sapphire and aluminum sintering. These exotic materials ensure that the project can last on the lunar surface for thousands of years.

The MoonArk successfully launched aboard Astrobotic’s Peregrine lander as part of ULA Vulcan Centaur’s maiden flight. Astrobotic’s lander experienced a propulsion anomaly during the mission which prevented it from achieving a soft landing on the Moon. The list of contributions to the project from around the world is extensive, please visit Moonarts.org for a full list of artists and collaborators.
